Roadtrip 2022 Spring: Seaside - Bend - Boise - Park City - Grand Junction - Park City - Boise - Richland

Day 27 - Grand Mesa

The minute we turn off I 70 and onto the Grand Mesa Scenic By Way - we're greeted by massive canyon walls and deep green farmlands.

The little church in the tiny town od Mesa.

Renewed Topographics - Grand Mesa style.

The transition to Spring can be a bit on the dirty side of things.

The World-Famous Highest Outhouse in the World, at 3240m or 10,630ft - and the highest point in this year's trip.

The Renewed Topographics: Land's End Exit, May 2022. My Original Big Idea was: drive a crazy dirt road of switchbacks called "Land's End" to reach the top of Grand Mesa, the biggest flat-top mountain in the world. This is the top of Land's End - completely snowed in.

The backside descent off Grand Mesa to farms below.

It's a white knuckle descent.

Navigation Error.

We tried a part of the Old Spanish Trail, hoping for views of the Gunnison River, but we just got low hills and scrub.

Late-day Lenticular Clouds form over the Grand Mesa, accompanied by that low thrumming sound. We've seen this before at Wildfire Lab Landing Sites.

Ella's new dog house on the deck.
